Health Care Canada is investigating a claim that a former health care executive named Dan Patrickson is claiming as his own income as a stockholder of the company clover.
In a letter to the auditor general, the regulator said it is investigating the claim.
The company says it was not aware of the claim and is working with the agency to resolve it.
David Maclean, a spokesperson for Health Care Ontario, confirmed the probe.
“We are investigating this matter and will take appropriate action when appropriate,” he said in an email.
Patrickson said he is not a stockowner of clover, but a stock holder of Health Care Solutions Inc., which is part of Health Canada.
He said he made the claim to his then-employer and the company told him it was untrue.
Clover shares fell 2.6 per cent on Tuesday after the company posted an adjusted loss of $847 million, after taxes, in the fourth quarter.
