Health insurance rates are going up for individuals in the United States.
The most recent quarterly numbers from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services showed that average monthly premiums increased by 6.2% for a family of four in the first quarter of 2018.
But the average increase for the first half of 2018 was 5.3%.
The average monthly premium for a single person for 2018 was $1,964, up 2.2%.
That’s an increase of 3.6%.
The average monthly increase for a couple of families was 4.4%.
The averages for individuals are slightly lower at $1.764, according to the Kaiser Family Foundation, but still higher than the average rate for 2018.
The average increase in premiums for the last six months was 8.3%, while the average for the 12 months was 2.4%, according to HealthPocket.
The number of people with health insurance has increased in recent years.
From April 2017 to January 2018, the number of uninsured Americans was at a record low of 3 million, down from 6.4 million the previous year.
